New York: Focus on Polish Scientists

We organised a social media campaign with the Polish Cultural Institute in New York to showcase Polish scientists who have worked in the United States or cooperate with American scientists on research projects.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put scientists in the spotlight. Over the course of 2020, the whole world anticipated the arrival of new vaccines and Polish scientists also took part in the race. Still, vaccine research is not the only area Polish scientists are involved in. Their work and its practical applications are also important in cancer treatment, climate change, and organic food production.

In June and July 2020, pro science team organised the #focusonpolishscientist social media campaign with the Polish Cultural Institute in New York to present 14 talented Polish scientists ever engaged in cooperation with American scientists and research projects.

The scientists were chosen together with the Institute and the Foundation for Polish Science. pro science was responsible for contacting the scientists, preparing Twitter and Facebook posts, and developing the project’s graphic design. Some of the scientists whose work was highlighted included Professor Krzysztof Pyrć, a virologist from the Jagiellonian University; Professor Agnieszka Dobrzyń, a biologist from the Nencki Institute for Experimental Biology PAS in Warsaw; Professor Marcin Drąg, a chemist from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology; Professor Joanna Sułkowska, a physicist and chemist from the Centre of New Technologies University of Warsaw; and Professor Aleksandra Przegalińska, a philosopher from Kozminski University.

The posts generated over 1,000 likes and were shared over 400 times. As a PR agency specializing in academia, we can support our client not only in promotional campaigns but also in communicating with scientists.
